Charter and Constitutional Law

The enactment of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms introduced a new wave of constitutional litigation that continues to evolve and shape the basic fundamental rights and freedoms that govern the relationship between individual and state. Disputes arising out of the fundamental rights and freedoms enshrined by the Charter are adjudicated in a variety of forums, including the Courts and administrative boards and tribunals. CaleyWray has provided expert counsel to its clients in respect of all types of Charter based litigation.

In addition, CaleyWray has successfully represented clients in respect of a variety of other constitutional matters, including issues arising out of the constitutional division of powers and aboriginal issues.
