Ali advocates for the rights and interests of workers across a variety of settings in labour, employment, and human rights law. He regularly appears before labour arbitrators and represents clients in a wide range of workplace-related disputes.

Before joining CaleyWray, Ali articled and summered at a union and employee-side law firm, where he developed a strong foundation in employment disputes, grievance arbitrations, collective bargaining, human rights, and constitutional matters. He is also a proud alumnus of Parkdale Community Legal Services, where he served as a caseworker in the Workers’ Rights division.

During his time at Osgoode Hall Law School, Ali honed his advocacy skills through competitive mooting. He was a member of the Tort Law Moot team, earning the award for Best Factum, and later represented Osgoode in the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. In the summer of 2021, he worked with the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, contributing to reports on the civil liberties implications of regulating social media. He has also hosted a legal podcast and served as an editor of the Transnational Legal Theory Journal. In addition to his focus on labour and employment law, Ali maintains a keen interest in international law and the evolving role of technology and artificial intelligence in the workplace.

In a past life, Ali obtained a BA in Philosophy and Music from the University of Toronto, and an MA in Philosophy from the University of Alberta.
